Pink Moon Candles

Update: I’ve been making candles

Since my launch in January of this year, candles have been on my mind.

A lot of love goes into each of my Pink Moon candles.

Today, I travelled all around town dropping off candles to friends. First, the morning was in Bexley. I met a Lindsey of Find Where You Fit at Cherbourg Bakery- a gluten free haven of baked goods. I had tea.

Next, I went over to Canal Winchester to Columbus Candle Company and picked up 50 lbs of soy wax. Derrick was super nice.

After that, Tonnisha and I met up at Piada and chatted about her upcoming wellness event. I gave her a candle too.

The last stop of the day was at the Nest co-working space in Westerville where I met up with Kerry Me to the Moon another amazing lady friend. I gave her a candle.

Now, I am at my son’s school in Bexley.

Tomorrow, I am meeting up with a friend in Grandview at Stauff’s.

Sunday, I have a reiki client appointment scheduled and in the afternoon a reiki session with a group of wonderful ladies.

Want to see more Pink Moon Candles? Check out my Instagram feed and order a candle by filling out the form here.

Thanks so much!

My mantra for today: I am cultivating a beautiful life and I am protecting myself too.

My trauma was lodged in my body.  Through my yoga practice, through receiving reiki every month for at least 2 years and through my  friend’s acupuncture needle that released stagnant anxiety was I able to move past the pain that my mind wanted to forget but my body wouldn’t let me.  I got help and reached out to people.  Oh and of course my amazing therapist too-  a must for healing and processing.  Mantra for today: I am cultivating a beautiful life and I am protecting myself too.

Why it pays to follow your curiosity

I started learning and throwing myself into reiki because I was looking for grace in my own life.
I followed my curiosity.
I enjoyed receiving and giving reiki energy and because of that, my love for it eventually became help.
“if you want to help others just love what you are doing, love where you live, love your life, that is the best thing you can do for your community.” -Liz Gilbert on Marie Forleo TV
Liz Gilbert and Marie Forleo have talked about the idea of the shit sandwich.  What do you love so much that you still want to do this “thing” even though it comes with a shit sandwich….is it still worth it to you?  Do you still enjoy doing it even though it comes with some difficulty, some hard parts, because everything comes with a shit sandwich or the feeling that this is too hard.  Too often we get the message from social media that If you follow your bliss everything will be great.  That is not the full truth.
The truth is that everything will be hard at one moment or the other.  You have the choice to stop something because not everything will work out.
But please don’t be afraid to start something just because you have the fear of it not being perfect.  Because it won’t be perfect the first draft.  We have such high standards for ourselves, but all it really is an excuse to not begin something or not to finish something.  Liz Gilbert believes that our failures have a function, they ask us if we really want to keep on making that thing.  Maybe it will work but maybe it won’t.  At least we followed our curiosity and tried.  Isn’t that what life is about, going into the unknown and finding joy, spreading love by expanding our life so others can be inspired to do the same.
Have courage dear friend.

The Top Reason Why I Love Brene Brown

I’ve been listening to Brene Brown on audible I’m finding new reasons to love all the time but here is some content from her new book Dare to Lead that just does it for me today.

We will do almost anything to avoid the feeling of being vulnerable if we let our ego be in control of our lives.  Because all it really cares about are gold stars, admiration from others, self-protection and outside validation.  But if we let our heart take the lead we start to live a different kind of life.  One where our soul emerges.  Jim Hollis, Jungian Analyst, has this quote that Brene cites in Dare to Lead and it goes like this:

“Ego is that thin wafer of consciousness floating on an iridescent ocean we call the soul.  We are not here to fit in, be well balanced…we are here to be different, eccentric, perhaps strange.  Perhaps merely to add our small piece, add our clunky, chunky selves to the great mosaic of being.  As the gods intended, to be more and more ourselves.”

This is so beautiful, isn’t it?  Let me know your thoughts on being vulnerable, Brene Brown and if you have read Dare to Lead.

Pink Moon Essentials

Thanksgiving just happened, shouldn’t I be more grateful?

Thanksgiving just happened. I am tired, my kid is sick and I hear that darn voice in my head saying, “do more, Natalie!”. I really don’t like that voice.

So today instead of wallowing in my stuff, I went to a yoga class. I ran to @thespacecolumbus (which is runnable from my house) through the snow, and through the mud. It was hard to breathe because it was so cold outside- my nose was running and I was grumpy.

Then I arrived at the studio and Josie inspired the heck out of me by making me work, made me move my body in ways that I usually don’t and clear out the yucky stuff from my aura, my subtle body, my physical body and my emotional body. She helped me get grounded. So if you are in a funk today, go move your body, go dig in and do something outside even though it is super cold. Go say hi to the trees, go walk your dog, go do it.

Sending you so much love because I am with you sister.

The most important things I learned about planning an event when no one showed up

My friend Patti and I had a great idea.  We would hold an event around the idea of people getting together to talk about ways that we can support one another and share tools for communicating with others in a loving way.

The only thing though is no one showed up.  I told my email list about it.  I told my instagram community about it many times.  Patti and I even talked about it via FB Live video.  But no one came.

Patti and I had a wonderful time though.  She and I shared family stories and laughed and laughed.  We told each other our own tools for managing stress during the holidays.  Some things we learned:

  1. To reduce stress during the holidays, listen to the news only so much. Yes…stay informed.   But as Thich Nact Hanh has wisely said, “only allow so much violence into your mind.”  You can only handle so much.
  2. Set boundaries with people who take energy out of you.
  3. Go see your therapist for a holiday tune up if necessary.
  4. Be open to sharing your stories with friends.  Laughter helps.
  5. Listen more and talk less.
  6. Spread love.  Cliche but in the end, that is what it is all about.

3 Things You Need to Know about the Reiki Purification Process

After being attuned or initiated to Reiki energy, situations may seem more difficult than ever before.  Negative emotions often come to the surface.  Similarly, after you have had a reiki session, you will feel the detoxing of your body, mind and spirit.

Reiki may cause a purification process which means you might feel tired, drained and yucky feelings might come up.  To lessen these side effects try walking outside in nature, do yoga and take deep breaths.  Deeply held emotions may surface.  Emotions that may have been deeply buried come to the top of your mind to be dealt with, healed and finally let go of.  Reiki energy opens, cleanses and balances your chakras.  If you can, focus on the idea of experiencing these difficult emotions so they can dissolve.

Try placing one hand on your forehead and the other over your navel.  Breathe in and visualize white light coming into your crown chakra, circling through your body and collecting all the negative, difficult feelings and emotions.  Take a breath out forcefully through your mouth, make a “bah” sound and visualize the toxic energy coming out from your solar plexus chakra. Another suggestion is to try soaking in a warm bath of epsom salts, essential oils and baking soda.  Be kind to yourself.  Try not to blame yourself or judge yourself.  Remember that this is important work and keep doing it.

Protect your energy with visualizations

Protecting your energy is super important for empaths

Visualizations are helpful tools in the world of energy.  Do you protect your energy?

When you are in a room of people who do not “feel” good, are you weary?  Any empaths out there understand what I am saying?

If you are like me, you need to feel safe in a space with a lot of people.  Too many different personalities and “noise” can prevent you from  staying centered.

When I don’t feel like the room has “good” energy I pay attention to my breath and take 3 cleansing breaths letting all that sh*%t go.

When I am surrounded by overwhelm, I imagine a grounding chord that starts from the base of my spine and goes to the middle of the Earth.  This chord grounds me into the Earth so that I don’t get carried away by others’ energy and drama.  I am grounded, I am safe.

Imagine if you can, a golden light energy surrounding you and forming a protective barrier.  Assure yourself that life is “ok” right here, right now, in this moment.  How does that feel?

Have a strong energetic boundary with others is a form of self-care and  protecting yourself.  So remember, when you feel like others are “taking” your energy, stop and imagine a golden protective barrier of light around you, preventing anyone or thing from getting in.

What is Reiki all about?

Many people have asked me, “what is reiki all about?” There is some uncertainty around energy work in general.  My goal with this blog post is to help make it a bit clearer.

People ask me all the time, “what is reiki?”
::It is the power of touch.::
:: It is a spiritual prayer.::
:: It is intention setting.::
:: Reiki is the process of focusing on your intention and letting go of that which doesn’t serve your highest good.::
:: Reiki is for you, the healer and empath who is worn out/stressed out.::
:: Reiki energy helps reconnect with the body and give clarity. ::

Behind the scenes: Why I’ve Been Quiet Lately and the Self-care Event

It’s taken me some time to re-energize and renew.   But although it wore me out a bit, the self-care event I organized and put on last month was so much fun.

It is a lot of work to market, promote and organize.  It takes thoughtful consideration.  I had to think about food.   At the last minute, I remembered to bring the moon deck (everyone loved picking out a card).    I wanted to make sure it was ok to burn palo santo and sage in the space (it was).  All the imagining and execution was the first time for me.  I had to figure out the order of what goes first, second, third during the event (logistics is a skill).

I had tons of help, thank goodness.  Rachel Kerr of the Beauty Boost helped me tons.  She gave me tips and tricks with the planning.   She gave me suggestions on how to communicate the event with specific copy (she is a pro).

Beth Menduni helped me with copy too.

Yasmine Robles helped me with the flyer design.

Briena Sash owner of the Wellness Stock Shop gave me amazing suggestions about the value of the self-care event and how much I should be posting about it on FB and Insta.

Melissa and Danielle of Haven Collective gave me some very valuable marketing ideas.

Selah Davenport of Free the Girls inspired me to incorporate a raffle to benefit this amazing organization.

Then came the day of the event

Rachel Kerr, of the Beauty Boost gave the attendees a relaxing and rejuvenating yoga flow experience.

Tessa Olson of Renewal Acupuncture gave the most relaxing acupuncture.   To top it off, the attendees received some high vibe reiki energy work from yours truly.:)

Seriously, it takes a village to pull off an event.

Before the actual day, I was so worried that no one would come, that no one would want to come.  I started planning for this event in May and it was a full time obsession until the last weekend in July when the event happened.

But you know what? It sold out! And more people wanted to come than we could fit in the space so we had to turn some people away.  It was a success by all accounts.

I did not organize this event to make a profit.  Instead, I did this to prove to myself that I could do it.  I did this to provide a safe space for community to come together and promote self-care, yoga, acupuncture, reiki, meditation, tarot, and inner peace.  I did this to raise money and bras for Free the Girls (we raised around $50 and donated some 30+ bras!!!!).

And that brings me to the people who attended.  Thank you, thank you, thank you from the bottom of my heart.  The women (and 1 guy) who came were full of positive energy, kindness and love.

I want to hear from you.  What event are you working on right now?  Do you want to collaborate?
